Grades 1-8 preparation

Pieces
Candidates will need to play three pieces, chosen from the published list. The suggested pieces will be played to the student to help with their choice, before we start to prepare.

Technical Work
Playing scales and arpeggios. A demonstration will be given to the pupil of how to learn and memorise scales and arpeggios, quickly and with the best results. At every lesson we will spend a few minutes to practice and improve the technique required for the exams.

Sight Reading
Sight Reading tests are set at the level of a piece approximately two grades lower than the grade undertaken. Candidates will be allowed 30 seconds to study the piece before they attempt it.

Learning how to sight read is not very complicated and it's a skill which we will develop in each lesson.

Aural Test
There are many ways to get in some aural practice between lessons, which will be explained during the lesson. I make sure that the student is fully ready to take this part of the exam.
